Seems this has happened to me more than once, especially after forcing a new master and resetting the powerstate from the VM's
So i'm deciding to log a simple way to fix this.
- find the uuid for the VDI
- xe vdi-list sr-uuid=(storage uuid which houses the vdi)
- copy all VDI uuid's which will not start
- xe vdi-forget uuid=(vdi uuid)
- In XenCenter click on the SR and scan SR
- VDI should show without a name, compare disk size name it, and attach too your vm

Well what i do is match up the Os.. Install a OS that most of my vm's was using... detach the hard drive then attach the un-named drive to see if it works

What if you lose all of your VDI's and you can't tell what each one is by the size?

Just forget them one at a time and scan and rename after each forget.
